Sant Nirankari Mission - Melbourne
(SNMM)
and Planet Ark invited all
residents to get into nature and grow for Planet Ark's National Tree Day.
SNMM celebrated National tree day event at 1377 Stud Road‚ Rowville on
27th of July 2014 by organising a Tree Planation Drive within its
premises to make our own city greener and healthier.
National Tree
Day event provides an opportunity to do something positive for the
environment and reconnect with Mother Nature. National Tree Day occurs
on the last weekend of July every year. National Tree Day aims to
inspire, educate and recruit Australians to actively care for our
unique land and create future generations of committed environmental
custodians.
SNM organised plantation of 48 native plants collected
from Knox Community Society. Many distinguished guests and local
dignitaries participated in this noble cause by planting a tree and
then attended the congregation between 12 to 2pm thereafter enjoying
the community meal thereafter. Dignitaries and guests included
Hon. Bruce Atkinson MLC (President of the Victorian Legislative Council
and Member for Eastern Metro Region) representing Multicultural
Minister Matthew Guy), Mrs Inga Peulich MLC (Cabinet Secretary,
Victorian Coalition Government and Member for South- East Metro Region),
Cr Darren Pearce (Mayor of Knox)‚ Mr M C Bhagat (Representing
CGI Melbourne)‚ Dr Ali Khan (CEO Ramahyuck Society) and Ms Joanna
Palatsides (Candidate for Dandenong).
All appreciated and congratulated the Mission for its efforts undertaken
and contribution made towards various community welfare activities and
its endeavour in making the society a better place to live in. Emphasis
was given on imbibing human values of love, tolerance, peace, harmony,
respect, care and oneness by all human beings. The Mission’s teachings
are to make this world a better place where each and every human being
reflects universal brotherhood. It was good to see the enthusiasm of
young children in this event. To prepare for this event volunteers of
the mission cleaned the massive land area and rendered their selfless
services for two to three weeks.
This year National Tree Day's theme,
"Get into Nature and Grow" focuses on
encouraging people to green up both their indoor and outdoor environments,
as Australians spend more time inside.
