SNM volunteers organised a Sewadal Rally followed by games on 20th February 2011. Sewadal Shikshak Adarsh Ji conducted these activities under the guidance of Sunny Ji - Sewadal Sanchalak and blessings of Indar Jit Ji - Pramukh, SNM Melbourne. Mr. Rakesh V.Kawra, Vice Consul (Student and Community Welfare Officer) - Consulate General of India, Melbourne along with his wife Mrs Mona Kawra graced the occasion and encouraged the spirit of the participants by volunteering for the games himself. He also appreciated the love and peaceful thoughts of all volunteers Mr John Anitema, Chairperson of Knox Inter-faith Network also congratulated all members for promoting community welfare and shared his views on promotion of welfare of Women in our communities. Mr Anil Sharma from ‘India @ Melbourne’ newspaper supported the increasing efforts of all members towards promoting humanity and provided media coverage to the event along with his correspondent Mr Guru. Many local dignitaries graced the occasion on the 23rd Feb 2011 along with large numbers of devotees and their friends. Hon Nick Wakeling MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Health - Victoria made it a special event with his Indian attire to celebrate His Holiness birthday. He much appreciated and congratulated the mission for the significant contribution towards the local Australian and Indian community welfare activities. He also expressed his sincere gratitude towards His Holiness and local volunteers for making a donation of AUD $5,100 towards Victorian Flood Relief fund for Premier's office. He addressed to all members that Premier's grant of $150,000 should act as a support for the mission towards rebuilding our community Kitchen and community welfare programs. It was a collective decision of all committee members on behalf of SNM Melbourne including Indar Jit Ji (Pramukh), Harbhajan Panchhi Ji (Exec Member), Himtu Ram Ji (Gyan Parcharak), Avinash Ji (Treasurer), D K Tuli Ji (Committee Member) and Sunny Ji (Sanchalak) to provide this generous support to all flood affected Victorians. Mr Vasan Srinivasan, President - Federation of Indian Associations of Victoria (FIAV) applauded all volunteers and promised his ongoing support to all members. Mr Sam Afra, Chairperson of the Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria (ECCV) congratulated mission for rebuilding our congregation hall at Rowville.
