Satsang Programme in the Divine Presence of

Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj

Samagam Ground No. 8, Delhi: August 21, 2016

On Sunday, August 21, 2016, Samagam Ground No. 8 in North Delhi was the venue of a huge weekly congregation once again. While thousands of devotees from Delhi and surrounding areas came for Namaskar, Rev Brij Mohan Singh Sethi Ji, Member Executive Committee of the Sant Nirankari Mandal blessed them from the sacred seat of Satguru. Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj joined the congregation towards the end and blessed he devotees still coming to pay their obeisance to Her Holiness.

Addressing the gathering Satguru Mata Ji said: “I got an opportunity to visit Scotland about 2-3 years ago, with Baba Ji. The local saints took us to a place having some large horses made of stone. Baba Ji went round those horses and watched them with great interest. A devotee brought some green grass and asked Baba Ji to offer the same to the horses. Everyone knows that a horse made of stone cannot eat grass. But Baba Ji was always ready to do anything for the pleasure of devotees. So, in order to please them he took the grass and put it near the mouth of a horse.

I saw that photograph in mobile telephone a few days back. I recalled that everybody had enjoyed and laughed at that moment. But I also thought that possibly Baba Ji was also trying to teach us a lesson. Perhaps he wanted us to realise whether we take whatever he teaches us to our minds or just listen from one ear and remove it from the other, just like the horse made of stone does not eat the grass.

Saints, let us think whether we too are not doing the same. Are we really so much intoxicated by status that instead of imbibing, we are forgetting the language of love and humility? Are we not overwhelmed by worldly wealth and have we not reduced the importance of the Almighty Nirankar in our life? We heard Baba Ji repeating many times the lines that said: We are not worried about the fall in the value of the currency, but we are sad that the value of the man is falling. Are we not in the same state and losing our own human values? Once Baba Ji gave us the slogan - Let’s Value Human Values. Are we only treating it as a slogan or acting on the same also? If not, let’s adopt them in practical life. Let the people around us think that we are so different from the world. Let us create a heaven on earth as Baba Ji expected from us.”

Earlier, addressing the congregation, Shri Brij Mohan Sethi Ji pointed out that ego is the man’s greatest enemy. Guided by ego, we do what we should not do and we speak what we should not speak. The other day, he said, he heard a story about such a man. Guided by ego, he did not even use proper language while speaking to others. By chance, he met a saint and confessed the shortcoming to him. The saint said that he had only 7 days left in his life and he would die after 7 days. The man started mending his behaviour, seeking forgiveness from those whom he had offended. He forgave those whom he could not meet. In this way, he was a completely changed man and he felt so relaxed and happy. On the last day, he went to the saint and reported about the same. The saint said, “I told you about 7 days only to see this change. You have a long life. If you can feel so relaxed and happy in 7 days, you can imagine your joy during the remaining life.”

Today Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj also wants us to give up our ego. Baba Ji also used to say that our ego keeps us attached to worldly objects which are not able to give us permanent happiness because they themselves are temporary. Let us pray to Satguru Mata Ji that we lead life free from ego.

Another leading speaker of the day was the Supreme Court Advocate and great Pracharak of the Mission, Shri R.K. Kapoor. He addressed the congregation in English. He began with the story of a student who won First Prize in Painting Competition of his school. He received the prize at a special function where his father was also invited. The boy felt a little disappointed when he found that while all the teachers and students praised his painting, his father did not seem to be happy.

The boy, therefore, worked hard and won the First Prize in the Inter School competition also. Here also while everybody appreciated his painting, his father’s reaction was again so-so. The boy worked still hard and topped in the State Competition also. His father, however, still did not appear to be really happy. So, the boy continued to make an intense effort which made him top at the National level also. Now, the father was really happy.

And the boy also understood the secret of his ordinary reaction earlier. Had he been happy the boy would not have put in more and more hard work, which ultimately took him to the top at the National level.

Shri Kapoor said that no doubt the Mission has constantly made progress and everyone has been contributing the best of his or her effort, Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj wants us to see to go further and achieve those heights where Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj wanted to see the Mission flourishing. Let us pray to Her Holiness that we should be able to surrender ourselves and act upon the advice coming from Her Holiness.

Other speakers, poets and singers also expressed similar views.
